Color of the year… the majority of paint companies chose a shade of GREEN as their color of the year. It’s a gender neutral color and can be utilized in any space. This year we will see more kitchens in green. Pair it with cinnamon and brown tones for an earthy palette.
Raise your hand it you think homes should be inhabited and lived in. The sterile look of all white and minimalism has run its course. Homes need to function for multiple purposes meeting physical and emotional needs. Decor that is not function is going away. Real life, real plants, and real function paired with sustainability make items in our home good for us and good for the planet. More on this in a future blog. Design elements that leave a place feeling cold will soon be a distant memory. Stainless steel hoods fall into this category. Hoods with traditional touches gain popularity again because they present more warmth.
Designers are saying they do not think black hardware will disappear, there's always room for black in a space, however, polished nickel and aged brass will dominate the finishes. New construction has incorporated black windows as a result of the farmhouse trend therefore black accents are a necessity when tieing it all together for a cohesive look.
Will the square arm sofa retire it's style? That is yet to be determined. Even if it does, it will be back!
